Starting my first blog finally...
It's a little embarrassing to be finally doing a blog when I said I never
would. My impression of bloggers is that they are self-centered whiners mainly
using their Web space to rant about minor injustices in their lives. Not that
I've even read many blogs... I'm just remembering back to when the practice
started in the mid-90s. I had started my first website using my free Earthlink
space (I was Zzzzzless in Seattle) and I went around the Net collecting links to
people's online diaries to compile for my visitors. (I should dig up that site
on my backup discs and see if any of those people are still blogging.)
So I'm going to do my level best to keep mine light and interesting. I guess blogs are a sort of ongoing Christmas letter. I've never done one of
those either, but I've always thought it would be nice to sum up my year for
friends and family. So how's this better — aren't I now making everyone read 365
Christmas letters a year? (Assuming I can keep it up on a daily basis.)
Then again, I know I'm guilty of not keeping people in the loop on what's
happening. It's not my style to just email people with updates out of the blue.
At least this way people can go read my stuff voluntarily.
Now, what the heck can I write about without breaking my longstanding rules for online
privacy?
