Thank God It's Fried-day

...and I feel fried because I've been on overdrive this week due to our new love affair with gourmet coffee beans. I've never been much of a coffee aficionado, despite 1) being a lifelong Seattleite, and 2) growing up with a dad who was so into the brown stuff that he actually installed a coffee maker into our stove. Now, this was the late 60s, long before Mr. Coffee machines came out, but I didn't realize until much later what an innovator my dad was (and still is). His job was servicing restaurant coffee machines at the time so he had all the parts, and if memory serves, we had a range/overhead oven combo that lent itself to being jury-rigged as a coffee machine. I'll have to ask him to comment on that!

My caffeine-fueled brain took on a lot of extra challenges this week, including researching the market for an idea I got for a sideline woodworking biz for my husband. He's been wanting to start something he could do over the Internet, utilizing my online marketing and Web-dev skills (and small-biz bookkeeping too!). Poor dear, he's jealous of me getting to stay home to do my work every day while he trudges off in the dark, rainy, cold weather every morning. But of course we do have a practical need for his day job: it's providing our excellent health & dental insurance. Too bad the healthcare industry is so messed up in this country!

Comment: I've sometimes thought about that stove with the coffeemaker and what became of it. Who would the new owner call for service? Another thought was my marvelous but unsold invention of the fuses that would light up if blown. I replaced all the fuses in that house with them. That was long before circuit breakers which coincidentally have an optional light if they trip! —Lorelle's dad

Lorelle's Response: Sadly, that was several owners ago I'm sure, and they probably got rid of the stove without even realizing there was something special about it. ...I didn't know you modified the fuses too!
